| [ORACLE] Dimensional info on Stonehenge [message #290007] |

My beloved son has got it into his head to make a scale model of Stonehenge
for his school holiday project. I have googled for dimensional information
(map of the site, stone sizes), and find nothing useful. If anyone has
suggestions or actual information I would be glad to hear about it, either
here or at the reply address.
TIA

Well, I hate to say this but "try a library" - there are a few books
about - remember them, sheets of paper gled between cards that you can
carry about with you.
Gerald S Hawkins seminal "Stonehenge Decoded" has plenty of diagrams,
and I am sure English "Heritage" (despoliers that they are) have done
other stuff - sure to be a few hippy-dippy books with big pictures, few
words and seekers after "Ancient Wisdom" ( so much smarter than this
new fangled wisdom)
Here endeth the first rant

Seek, and ye shall find, ask, and the door shall be opened unto thee.
Do pay attention at the back please.

Thanks for the information. The smack on the hands I could have done
without.
Yes, I use the public library, but this particular project was an impulsive
idea by a ten year-old with a short attention span. I spent a couple of
hours googling Stonehenge + map / diorama / model - in retrospect the wrong
words, which was why I asked for help.
Next time, please save your time and effort and leave the help to the kinder
folk. Seriously.

I designed a CD cover for Jimmy Gordon's CD years ago
http://www.theluggage.net/jimgord.htm
I used a model of Stonehenge, but replaced the stones with harmonicas.
I can't remember where I got the exact placement and dimensions of the
stones, but I did get them off the web somewhere.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be ;-) I remember being jolted by
seeing a message on a Teletext notice board (text information broadcast
in a sideband to TV in the UK), sent in by a viewer - "Does anyone
remember a cable channel called Screensport?" Nostalgia for a cable
channels?? Anyway isn't it the point of cable that you have a zillion
channels, how often will you care if one comes or goes... particularly
sport, where the rights to anything good are bought by one of the big
guys, someone who's there for the duration... fingers are now being
pointed at me and the words "ITV Digital" whispered...
